Health

Basset hounds are usually healthy but can suffer from conditions such as hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, glaucoma, and bloat (gastric torsion). Their long back makes them susceptible to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), so care should be taken to jump on their spine or to avoid excessive stress.
